Kupwara traders asked to follow govt-approved rates; authorities to intensify market checking

Kupwara, Feb 13 (KNO): On the directions of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara Dr Doifode Sagar Dattatray, the Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Aijaz Ahmad Bhat on Monday chaired a joint meeting of officers and presidents of various trade federations of this north Kashmir district to discuss the availability of food grains and other essential commodities on government-approved rates. The move comes in the wake of the occasions of Shab-e-Me’raj and Maha Shivratri and also the upcoming holy month of Ramadan. The Assistant Director Food Wali Mohammad, Area Marketing Officer Horticulture Planning and Marketing Mushtaq Ahmad and District Information Officer Mohammad Yousuf Mir were present in the meeting. As per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the ACR directed the presidents of all trade federations and market associations to ensure a smooth supply of commodities on government-approved rates and desist from any kind of black marketing. He asked the concerned officers including the Assistant Director, Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs and Area Marketing Officer, Horticulture Planning and Marketing to intensify the market checking in all towns of the district. The traders were asked to display the government-approved rate lists in their shops. President Traders Federations Kupwara Showket Masooudi, President Traders Federations Handwara Aijaz Ahmad and other heads of the traders’ fraternity assured full cooperation to the district administration. They also raised certain issues in the meeting which the ACR assured of resolving in a time-bound manner—(KNO)
